One of the most common causes of issues in Active
Directory configuration is simply not having the correct settings. It’s useful
when trying to diagnose AD LDAP issues to have an LDAP browser to hand. Using
an LDAP browser you can test the Base DNs you’re using and the credentials used
to connect to the LDAP store, then drill into how your AD/LDAP store is
organised to, for example, view the attributes your AD store is using, check
name hierarchies (useful for diagnosing Base DN issues) etc
We can use LDAP browsers such as Apache Directory Studio or JXplorer that are free to use for testing the LDAP credentials.
